BASAVESHWARA MEDICAL COLLEGE AND HOSPITAL

The SJM Vidyapeetha started Basaveshwara Medical College in the backward district Chitradurga, to reach the medical education to the un reached in particular and the development of this backward region in general, in the year 2001-02. Today it is a full-fledged college with required physical and human infrastructure as required by the Medical Council of India and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.

The Hospital, including the urban and rural health centers, is developed not merely with an intension to provide teaching material but to students but with the social commitment of providing health care to the people of the district. It is the only medical college functioning in the entire district. Students from all parts of the country are undergoing medical education imparted on spiritual and moral base.

Eligibility : A pass at PUC or 10+2 or equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks from the aggregate of Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects.

S J M DENTAL COLLEGE AND HOSPITAL

Established in the academic year 1985-86 the Dental College is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and recognized by Dental Council of India, New Delhi. Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) Course of 4 years plus one year internship if offered. College has bagged several university ranks and has produced over 1000 number of Dental doctors and surgeons. The Dental College and Hospital are developed as per the norms of the Dental Council of India, New Delhi.

Eligibility : A pass at PUC or 10+2 or equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks from the aggregate of Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects with a minimum score of 50% in the English subject.

S J M INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

It was established in the academic year 1980-81 with an intension to take the engineering education to the students of rural and backward region. It is affiliated to Visveshwaraiah Technological University ( VTU ), Belgaum and recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi. It is well equipped with required infrastructure in the class rooms, faculty rooms, student waiting rooms, library, laboratories and hostels.

There are eight branches under UG Programme – Electronics and Communication, Computer Science, Information and Science, Electrical and Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering and Civil Engineering. Dedicated efforts of well experienced teaching and non teaching staff, committed efforts of management have contributed to the students to excel in their examinations and placements. Reputed corporate concerns are invited to promote personality development and placement in the campus. Our institution finds a place every year in the student rank list of VTU.

It was established in the academic year 1983-84. It is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and recognized by the All Indian Council for Technical Education and also the Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi. The college offers Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharma – 4 years course) and Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharma-2 years course). The college possess good infrastructure and dedicated staff including hostel facility.

Eligibility for Admission to B.Pharma Course : A pass in PUC or 10+2 or equivalent level with a minimum percentage of 50% in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

SJM Institute of Nursing Sciences

This college was started by the Vidyapeetha in the academic year 2003-04 to impart advance training in nursing. It is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and recognized by the Indian Nursing Council and Karnataka Nursing Council. The institute has a tie-up with CGFNS ( Commission for Graduates of corresponding Foreign Nursing Schools). The college is attached to Basaveshwara Medical College Hospital, Chitradurga. It is fully equipped and has sufficient teaching staff to provide quality education to the students. Hostel facility is provided both for boys and girls. The result is almost 100% every year.

Eligibility : Must have passed PUC or 10+2 or equivalent examination with subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. 50% marks in aggregate is required. Should be aged of minimum 17 years at the time of admission. Candidates from outside the Karanataka State and those who are studied CBSE scheme should produce the Eligibility Certificate issued by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore at the time of admission.

S J M POLYTECHNICS

Three polytechnics are functioning under SJM Vidyapeetha. These are located at Chitradurga, Challakere (Chitradurga Dist) and Birur (Chikkamagalur Dist.). The one located in Chitradurga is aided by Govt. of Karnataka. The other two are un-aided institutions. These institutions are recognized by the Directorate of Technical Education, Govt. of Karnataka, Bangalore and approved by AICTE, New Delhi. These polytechnics offer 3 years Diploma Courses.

The SJM polytechnic located in Chitradurga offers Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Automobile Engineering branches.

Established in the academic year 1992-93 the training institute is affiliated to the Department of Employment and Training, Govt. of Karnataka, Bangalore and recognised by the Directorate of Technical Education Bangalore.
The Institute offers 2 years training in the course of Electrical Trade, Electronic Mechanic Trade and Fitter Trade.

Eligibility: A minimum pass in 10th standard or SSLC or equivalent. The candidate should be between 17 - 21 years of age.
